Stockholm (CP-AP)—Abe Yanofsky of Winnipeg won his match Wednesday in the fourth round of the international chess tournament here. He defeated Wolfgang Uhlmann of East Germany.
Miroslav Filip of Czechoslovakia, who leads the tournament with 3½ points, played to a draw with Fridrik Olafsson of Iceland.
Yanofsky, who lost his first two games, now has 1½ points. He earned a draw Tuesday with Mario Bertok of Yugoslavia in the third round.
The winner of the tournament is to meet Mikhail Botvinnik of the Soviet Union, the world chess champion.
With 3½ points, Filip has a one point lead over Paul Benko of New York, Wolfgang Uhlmann of East Germany and Arturo Pomar of Spain.
Benko drew with Svetozar Gligoric of Yugoslavia in the fourth round. Bobby Fischer, U.S. grand master from Brooklyn, and Lajos Portisch of Hungary adjourned their match with Fischer apparently in a good position to win when the match is resumed. Fischer has two points.
