Fischer Scores In World Chess
Sets Back Barcza and Goes Into a Tie for First Place
Yesterday's session of the world interzonal chess tournament at Stockholm was devoted to the completion of five games adjourned from the fifth and sixth rounds, according to a report from the Swedish capital.
Bobby Fischer of New York, a former United States champion, captured his unfinished sixth-round game with Gideon Barcza of Hungary in sixty-three moves and advanced to a tie for first place with Dr. Miroslav Filip of Czechoslovakia. Both are undefeated and have scores of 5—1.
Wolfgang Uhlmann of East Germany defeated Eugenio German of Brazil in their fifth-round match in fifty-six moves and moved into third place at 4½—1½.
Another victor was Pal Benko of the United States. He gained an important point at the expense of M. Schweber of Argentina in their fifth-round game after seventy moves.
