Keres And Geller Maintain Chess Tie
Willemstad, CuraƧao, June 9—Two games were finished and two adjourned in the nineteenth round of the Candidates' Chess Tournament.
Paul Keres and Ewfim Geller, both of the Soviet Union, drew a Sicilian Defense in twenty-two moves to maintain their tie for the lead.
Dr. Miroslav Filip of Czechoslovakia and Mikhail Tal of the Soviet Union drew in a Panno Variation of the King's Indian Defense after thirty-three moves.
Bobby Fischer of the United States adjourned a Sicilian Defense with Victor Korchnoi of the Soviet Union after forty-six moves. When play was suspended Fischer had a rook and bishop for a rook and four pawns. Korchnoi is expected to win.
Pal Benko of the United States adjourned a Reti Opening, by transposition, with Tigran Petrosian of the Soviet Union after forty-one moves. With two rooks a knight and pawns versus two rooks, a bishop and pawns, Petrosian is expected to win a pawn and the game.
