Two Games Adjourned, Two Drawn At Curacao
Willemstad, Curacao, May 7—Two games were drawn and two adjourned today in the fourth round of the Candidates' Chess Tournament.
Mikhail Tal of the Soviet Union adjourned with Bobby Fischer of the United States, after forty-one moves of a Sicilian Defense. Tal was a pawn down but had compensation in a strongly posted knight against Fischer's badly placed bishop; a draw is likely.
Victor Korchnoi of the Soviet Union adjourned with Pal Benko of the United States in a Maroczy Sicilian Defense after forty-two moves. Korchnoi had a rook and three pawns against Benko's bishop and four pawns; again, a draw seems probable.
Tigran Petrosian of the Soviet Union drew with his countryman, Paul Keres, in an uneventful seventeen-move Slav Defense. Ewfim Geller of the Soviet Union drew with Dr. Miroslav Filip of Czechoslovakia in a peaceful Sicilian Defense after thirteen moves.
The pairings for the fifth round follow: Keres vs. Geller, Benko vs. Petrosian, Fischer vs. Korchnoi, Filip vs. Tal. The players named first have the White pieces.
