Geller Leads Chess As Keres Takes Ill
Willemstad, Curacao, June 14—Paul Keres of the Soviet Union, who has been tied for the lead in the Candidates' Tournament, is ill and his game with Bobby Fischer in the twenty-first round has been postponed. No date has been set for the game as yet.
Ewfim Geller of the Soviet Union, in the meantime, took the lead in the tournament yesterday by drawing his game with Pal Benko of the United States, on the black side of a Reti Opening, by transposition, in thirty-six moves. Mikhail Tal and Victor Korchnoi, both of the Soviet Union, drew a Sicilian Defense in twenty-five moves when a piece of sacrifice by Tal led to a perpetual check.
The game between Dr. Miroslav Filip of Czechoslovakia and Tigran Petrosian of the Soviet Union, a Pirc Defense, was adjourned after forty-one moves, with Petrosian enjoying a minimal positional advantage.
