Fischer, Russian Adjourn In Chess
American and Geller in Even Position After 42 Moves
Bobby Fischer of Brooklyn and Ewfim Geller of the Soviet Union, the two leaders in the world interzonal chess tournament at Stockholm, adjourned their eighteenth-round game yesterday. Play was halted in a fairly even position after forty-two moves, according to a report from Sweden.
Geller had the white pieces in a Sicilian defense. Fischer held the tournament lead with a score of 12½—2½ to Geller's 11½-3½.
Seven of the eleven games were adjourned. The winners were Manuel Aaron of India, Lajos Portisch of Hungary and Fridrik Olafsson of Iceland. Pal Benko of New York and Rudolph Teschner of West Germany drew.
