Dr. Miroslav Filip of Czechoslovakia scored 5-1 for a good lead after six rounds of the interzonal chess tournament in Stockholm, according to a report from the New York Times.
Dr. Filip captured his first three games against Abe Yanofsky of Canada, Eugenio German of Brazil and M. Cuellar of Colombia. In later sessions he drew with Fridrik Olafsson of Iceland and Tigran Petrosian of the Soviet Union.
Former U.S. champion Bobby Fischer, who at 19 is much the youngest contestant in the event, is in second place with a 4-1 score. He has a positional advantage in an adjourned game with Gideon Barcza of Hungary.
Fischer started slowly with drawn games against Rudolph Teschner of West Germany and U.S. Open champion Pal Benko. The youngster then moved up with successive wins against Manuel Aaron of India and Lajos Portisch and Istvan Bilek of Hungary.
Tied for third place are Julio Bolbochan of Argentina and Arturo Pomar of Span, each with scores of 4-2. Wolfgang Uhlmann of East Germany has 3½-1½ and an unfinished game with German.
Benko, who made the American delegation at the last moment, taking the place of James T. Sherwin, has an even score of 2½-2½. He defeated U.S. champion Arthur S. Bisguier in the first round, drew three games, then lost to Yanofsky.
Bisguier is in the second division with a tally of 2-3. He defeated Aaron, but lost to Portisch as well as Benko, and drew with Bilek and Barcza.
