What's interesting about the Armstrong cult/Worldwide Church of God literature and all its terror of the flock — I do recall that Armstrong had the “End Time” prophecy chock full of gloom & disaster for those reluctant individuals who weren't baptized (like me and Bobby).
If the Nazis didn't gas you and you somehow actually survived that — there were volcanoes, famines, plagues, — great woe and destruction. Last but not least, the Communist USSR were bound to arise near the end, and persecute too.
I had no reason to think that far ahead though, I wouldn't last more than a couple weeks in a Nazi death camp and besides, as a young American, Armstrong's terror literature paled in comparison to what the U.S. media and government was churning out about the Communist USSR.

Came across this in the January 1968 listings. Bobby's cult leader, Armstrong was always echoing news headlines… every event in national and world news, had “prophetic” Biblical significance. The gloomy threat that Nazis were just on the horizon was still in the press in 1968. Makes perfect sense why Bobby (under influence of Charlatan Armstrong) took the possibility of Nazi invasion seriously enough to search out their literature to investigate in 1972 when / how / if they're plotting attack on U.S.

The cult doctrines from the 1950's and 1960's which terrorized Bobby Fischer forecast Nazis arising in Europe, under the direction of the Catholic Church and would persecute those of us who kept the Jewish Saturday sabbath and Biblical Old Testament laws which Jesus, as lawgiver, came, not to do away with, but to enforce.
We lived in perpetual terror of Nazis arising without consideration of what effect that level of constant terror has on the victim's mind. It results in Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Those who profess Christianity but did not obey the Old Testament laws which Jews observe, were prophesied to endure terrible persecution, according to Herbert W. Armstrong's cult doctrines. I believed the false prophet, and Bobby Fischer believed the false prophet, wholeheartedly. Bobby tells the Ambassador Report in 1977, of his faith and belief, only in the end, to realize he had been mislead to believe in a pack of lies.
I hope the day comes that good people speak up to stop not only the Armstrong Cult's terror and Doomsday cults like it, but to stand up to the biggest bully of all: Israel. This evil mind-conditioning can not be understated. I know what Bobby Fischer endured the 15+ years he was involved, because I went through it for 18 years.
I came out of it, feeling like a guinea pig in some kind of wicked mind-control experiment.

The time frame (1979) after Bobby Fischer parted ways from Herbert W. Armstrong's religious cult indoctrination and became newly indoctrinated in the political “Judeo Bolshevik Myth” cult indoctrination:

Evans did make a note in one of his columns that Bobby made a peculiar comment, “Well, I guess the world's coming to an end anyway,” he sighed. “Maybe I'll let 'em publish the book.” [1968-1969ish] One of the few things I believe Larry Evans ever told the truth about.
Aside of years of psychologically tormentuous doctrines and failed interpretations of prophecy; the church attorney Stanley Rader would later insert himself to pilfer Fischer's finances (the prize winnings of the 1972 Fischer-Spassky match) just as Rader was accused of siphoning millions in church assets — by 1977 Fischer got pulled in a tug of war between cult dissidents intent on destroying the Armstrong organization by any means necessary.See The Worldwide Church of God — Profits of Doom
Throughout these archives I have pointed out many ample examples, beyond doubt, the media has published false & misleading information about Robert J. Fischer, and its influence on his life vs. what was undeniably a corrupt religious organization.
Bobby was on the side of just trying to protect others. That was his original intent, but he underestimated the hostility and levels both sides would stoop to to destroy each other, and Fischer got pulled in the middle of their squabbles. Stanley Rader manipulated Fischer into working up a lawsuit against the Ambassador Report (even the authors of that magazine admitted that they didn't think Fischer was the one behind the lawsuit)—:
