Korchnoi Tops Filip Takes Lead In Chess
Willemstad, CuraƧao, May 15—Victor Korchnoi of the Soviet Union took the lead in the Candidates' Chess Tournament today be defeating Dr. Miroslav Filip of Czechoslovakia in their sixth-round adjourned game. Strong connected pawns in a rook-and-pawn ending proved too much for Dr. Filip. Korchnoi's eight-round total is 5½ points.
Two other adjourned games were finished. Bobby Fischer won his seventh-round game when Paul Keres of the Soviet Union resigned without resuming play. Pal Benko of the United States and Ewfim Geller of the Soviet Union drew their seventh-round game in seventy-four moves.
