Filip Gains Draw With Petrosian
Czech Keeps Chess Lead—Fischer, Barcza Adjourn
Drawing with Tigran Petrosian of the Soviet Union in yesterday's sixth round of the world interzonal chess tournament at Stockholm, Dr. Miroslav Filip of Czechoslovakia strengthened his hold on first place with a score of 5—1, according to a report from the Swedish capital.
Bobby Fischer of New York, second with 4—1, adjourned his game with Gideon Barcza of Hungary. The former United States champion had the white side of a Caro-Kann defense. At the end of the session, Fischer had a slight advantage in position.
Julio Bolbochan of Argentina suffered his first loss when he was outpointed by Leonid Stein of the Soviet Union in a Sicilian defense lasting thirty-nine moves. Arturo Pomar of Spain added 1½ points to his score by defeating Istvan Bilek of Hungary and drawing his unfinished fifth-round game with Lajos Portisch without resuming play.
Abe Yanofsky of Canada defeated Pal Benko of the United States. Two other sixth-round victors were Fridrik Olafsson of Iceland and Wolfgang Uhlmann of East Germany.
